Keep your boilers efficient and healthy for a long time with proper operation and maintenance

03:01 by powermasterNo comments

Most of the companies of the modern times use boilers as essential equipment. The companies those use boiler extensively include paper industry, textile industry, chemical manufacturing plants, distilleries, and sugar mills to name a few. Whenever a company purchases a boiler, a huge investment is made in that equipment. Every company wants that they get the best return on investment when they purchase a boiler; they want it to give maximum efficiency continuously for a long time. This is possible but the boiler equipment must be operated properly and with utmost care.

Boiler is equipment, which is used for producing very huge amounts of heat and pressure. This heat and pressure is then used in various operations of an industry. Now when we are dealing with such huge amount of heat and pressure, then it is necessary that we take good care of the equipment and its operation. The owner should keep in mind that the person hired for operating a boiler must be well qualified and should have relevant experience in this field. Without much experience, he would face difficulty in reading different gauges and metres that are mounted on the boiler. These gauges indicate the level of pressure, water, and heat which need to be in limits. If the values of these factors cross the prescribed limits, then it would be dangerous for both the equipment and the operator. It can even lead to a death causing accidents.

Apart from operation of the boiler, its maintenance is also very important. With the course time and continuous use, there are some problems in the boilers those need to be recognised and rectified on time to avoid any further damage. The maintenance of boilers includes two main parts- cleaning of the boilers and repair and replacement of faulty part and gauges.

Cleaning of boiler tubes is necessary for removal of any sediments and sludge that could be accumulated in the inner surface of the tubes. These sediments are so firm and strongly placed that sometimes you need to use heavy drills to remove them from the surface. Most of the people use chemical cleaning agents to remove the sludge from the tube. Metal brushes are also used by many people to scratch the dirt out of the tube. For bigger boilers, special tube cleaners such electric tube cleaners and pneumatic tube cleaners are also available. These specialized boiler tubecleaners make the task of tube cleaning easier and faster.

After cleaning, you need to check for any faults in the inner structure, furnace or the gauges of the boiler equipment. If you find even a minor fault, you must rectify it with immediate effect to prevent any further damage or severe accidents. Due to faulty gauges or defective structure, the boiler may not work on its full efficiency and could lead to fatal accidents. In order to make your boilers safe and efficient for a long time, you must take care of both operation and maintenance of your boiler very much.
